Boynton Beach Store Review - PB Pulse...October 28, 2010

Savor Big Al’s cheesesteaks, fries –
and be a swigger of birches
MENU
Philly cheesesteaks, chicken Philly, some hoagies (subs to
most South Florida folks), ribeye sliders (mini-burgers) and
deep-fried hot dogs.
Atmosphere
There are lots of Philly sports team banners and pennants
on the walls, plus a large mural with Philly trivia on it and a
few televisions. It's a sports bar-type atmosphere in a
burger joint setup. Nice mix.
OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE
My wife ordered the 9-inch all-white-meat chicken Philly with
provolone ($8.75), and I ordered the 9-inch cheesesteak
with provolone ($8.45). We split a medium order of fries ($2.75).
You can have American cheese or Cheese Whiz, that gloppy
orange concoction they like to put on cheesesteaks in
Philadelphia, but we passed on that. We were surprised to find
birch beer in the soda fountain, a favorite of mine in my years
living in Pennsylvania. For the uninitiated, it tastes like a
combination of Dr. Pepper and root beer. We both loved our
sandwiches, but this is a great place to go for fries. Crispy on
the outside, soft and tender inside, don’t miss them.
REASON TO GO
The rolls are said to be flown in from Philadelphia. They’re very
good, soft with just the right amount of chewiness.
SERVICE
You order at the counter and pick up your food at another window.
It’s pretty quick.
NOISE LEVEL
There were several televisions on showing an Eagles/Redskins
game, but those at the tables were relatively quiet.
KID FRIENDLY
Yes, there is a kids menu with several choices.
